Chinese telecom equipment supplier Huawei and European telecom operator Vodafone recently entered into a cooperation agreement, the SinaCast Daily Business Beat News reported on November 26. Under the agreement, they plan to set up an innovation center in Milan, Italy, for core networks. The innovation center will mainly engage in the R&D operations in several areas, including mobile broadband, IP (Internet Protocol) multimedia subsystems, and FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) leveraging Huawei's state-of-art equipment and technologies.

 

Huawei recently also signed a letter of intent with governor of North Rhine-Westphalia State, Germany, whereby they plan to jointly establish a new innovation center in Dusseldorf, the capital city of North Rhine-Westphalia State, according to the Sina Tech News on November 23. The investment is valued at 20 million Euros (US$29.9 million; US$1 = 0.67 Euro). The new center is scheduled to begin construction in 2010 and Huawei is expected to recruit around 200 local engineers for the center, according the same source.
